The Folsom Historical Society is pleased to announce its acquisition of the Howard Sr. and Mabel Chan House - home of the future Folsom Chinese Heritage Museum.  The small but historically significant Chan House is located at 917 Sutter Street in Folsom's Historic District.

This acquisition marks a significant step forward in the Folsom Historical Society's goal of opening a Chinese Heritage Museum dedicated to telling the rich and complex history of the Chinese in Folsom and in California.  In the 1880s, Folsom had a Chinese community of about 2,500 - the second largest Chinese community in California, after San Francisco.
